NVQ in Boat Building and Support Services
You will learn how to work safely in a boat building/repair environment and you will learn how to build and repair boats by working with different materials like FRP, wood and metal. You will also develop key skills in numeracy, communication and ICT in line with industry requirements. You will also get the chance to complete a Modern Apprenticeship by studying a technical certificate at the appropriate level.

What will I study?
You will have to study three mandatory units: • Working safely in a boat building/repair environment • Contributing to developing and maintaining working relationships • Contributing to the effectiveness of boat production and support services as well as three optional modules that can include: • Repairing FRP boats and components • Manufacturing sub-assemblies for boats • Installing sub-assemblies in boats • Assembling/installing FRP components on boats Also you will be required to develop your key skills in Communication, Application of Number and TG.

Will I have to sit any examinations?
The course is based on continuous assessment.

What will I have at the end of the course?
On successful completion of the course, you will gain a NVQ Level 2 in Boat Production and Support Services.

What next?
After successfully completing the course you could go directly into employment in the marine industry or progress to the Level 3 course.
