Award Ceremony Celebration (2009-10-13 )
Recently Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor celebrated the awarding of their annual John Tudor Scholarships with a special prize giving event at the Dolgellau site.
Mr John Tudor CBE was the college Chair of the Corporation and he sadly passed away last spring. He was well known for his work within the local community and across Wales. Now in its fourth year the Ł400 scholarships were given to eight students from schools in the local area. These school pupils are now first year students at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s three main sites in Dolgellau, Pwllheli and Glynllifon.
The scholarships are part of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s ongoing programme to promote excellence.
College Principal, Dr Ian J. Rees, said:
“An important part of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s work is to promote excellence and the scholarships are an integral part of this. The purpose of the awards is to make it possible for the winners of the John Tudor Scholarship to continue on the path to excellence, by enabling them to purchase specialist equipment, books or going on educational visits.
“We recently had a prize giving ceremony at Dolgellau with the students and their families to celebrate their successes. Congratulations to all the winners, and we hope that they make good use of their award to enhance their learning experience at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor even further. ”
